congratulations to John Singleton who landed a 5lb 8oz rainbow,

while fishing with the winter league on Sunday.

Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October 

Flies: Various Buzzers, Black Cats, White Cats, Diawl Bachs, Yellow Dancers.

Lines: Floating Lines this week

Hot Spots: the middle of the lake and up seems to be where our anglers are fishing this week.

Some Catches this Week:

  • Neil Duff on a Catch and Release ticket returned 6 rainbows.
  • Donald McKenzie also on a Catch and Release ticket returned 6 rainbows.
  • Donald McKenzie & Geoff Parker weighed in 5 rainbows for 10lb, and returned a further 7.
  • Raith Lake Raiders fished there final outing this week at the lake weighing in 10 rainbows for 20lb
  • Our Annual winter league started last Sunday, we have 10 guys fishing it this year, who weighed in 18 rainbows for 43lb 12oz with a further 8 returned.
  • Willie Turnbull on a Catch and Release returned 30 fish to the water on a fantastic day, using a Black/White Cat.

To 23rd Sunday October

Flies: Lime Green Blob, Black & Green Booby,

Lines: Floating

Hot Spots: Top end and Bottom end are working best for our anglers

Some Catches:

  • Donald McKenzie & Geoff Parker weighed in 3fish for 8lb returning a further 7 to the water.
  • Brian Collins weighed in 3fish for 7lbs
  • Donald McKenzie & Bill Smart on a catch & release ticket returned 11 fish.
  • George Wallace's annual charity day took place on Saturday 22nd with a total of 25 rainbows weighing in at 49lbs and a further 8 rainbows returned to the water, a great day & night was had by all.

 

Monday 19th September to Sunday 25th September

Hot Flies: Buzzers, Bloodworm, Hot Head Damsel, Tadpole, various CDC.

Lines: Sinking Tip, Floater.

Hot Spots: The entire lake is fishing well.

Some catches this week:

  • Donald Mckenzie & Geoff Parker 5 for 11lb.
  • John McTurk 3 for 6lb 4oz.
  • John Hutton returned 5 on catch & release,
  • Mark Dobson 2 for 5lb and 2 rainbows returned.
  • Tam Jorden 2 for 4lb.
  • Tom Landown 6 for 14lb 4oz and returned 1 rainbow.
  • Jack Fraser 2 for 3lb 10oz.
  • Mike Wilson 1 rainbow at 3lb.
  • Brian Collins 5 for 11lb 8oz.
  • Neil Duff returned 16 fish on a catch & release ticket.

 

Monday 12th September to Sunday 18th September

Hot Flies: Buzzers, Red Diawl Bach, Yellow Dancer and Hoppers.

Lines: Floating and Midge Tip.

Hot Spots: The whole of the lake is fishing well.

Some catches this week:

  • Mr Parkinson weighed in 2 lovely rainbows for 4lb and returned a further 4.
  • David Currie and partner weighed in 3 rainbows for 6lb 8oz.
  • J Summers & S Summers weighed in 4 for 8lb 8oz.
  • Bob Watson weighed in 2 rainbows for 3lb 12oz, and returning a further 4 to the water.
  • Donald McKenzie on catch and release returned 7 fish to the water.
  • Barrys A/C weighed in a total of 16 fish for 30lbs 10oz.
  • Eck Burns & Ross Hughes weighed in 3 for 6lb 8oz and returned a further 6.
  • David Redgrave & Martin Wilson weighed in 5 for 10lbs.

Monday 25th July to Sunday 31st July

Flies: Bloodworms, Small Lures, Orange Dancer, Boobies

Lines: Intermediate

Hot Spots: Top end and the middle seems to be working best for our anglers.

Some of catches this week:

  • Tam Jordon weighed in 2 rainbows for 6lb 4oz, his bag included 1 beautiful rainbow for 4lb 10oz, caught on an intermediate line with a orange dancer.
  • Jock Martin weighed in 3 rainbows for 7lb 8oz
  • Alan Proctor & Ian Orr weighed in 3 rainbows for 6lb 8oz
  • Eddie Mckillop weighed in 1 rainbow for 2lb 8oz
  • Jack Johnston & John Beverage weighed in 5 rainbows for 12lb, their bag included a rainbow at 3lb, caught on a small lure.
  • Phil Stafford weighed in 2 rainbows for 4lb 8oz.

 

Monday 18th July to Sunday 24th July

Flies: Copper Cat, Damsels, Small Lures, Yellow Dancers, Bloodworms

Lines: Floating, Sinking, and Intermediate

Hot Spots: The top end of the lake seems to be working best for our anglers.

Some of our catches this week:

  • James Paterson weighted in 2 rainbows for 5lb 8oz, his bag included 1 at 3lb.
  • Alan Sturton weighed in 3 rainbows for 6lb 12oz.

 

 

Monday 11th July to Sunday 17th July

Flies: Orange JCB, Red hot head damsel, Green Hot head Damsel, Green Diawl Bach,

Lines: Floating & Intermediate

Hot Spots: Top end of the lake seems to be working best for anglers.

Some Catches this week:

  • Peter Dewar weighed in 2 fish for 5lb, his bag included 1 at 3lb. Caught on a red/blue damsel with a lime green tail and intermediate line.
  • Mr Walker & Partner weighed in 3 fish for 7lb 8oz, his bag included a lovely rainbow for 3lb 8oz (see picture below) he tempted it with a green hot head damsel.

  • T Jordan weighed in 3 fish for 7lb 4oz, which included 1 at 3lb 4oz
  • Tam Duguid weighed in 2 fish for 4lb 4oz
  • Alex Mason weighed in 2 fish for 4lb 12oz his bag included 1 at 2lb 8oz
  • A Anderson & D Meldrum weighed in 2 for 4lb 4oz
  • Michael & George weighed in 4 fish for 8lb 4oz
  • Andy Nolson & Jim Crawford returned 9 on catch and realese

Notable Catches

  • John McTurk weighed in 3 fish for 7lb 8oz which included a beautiful rainbow of 3lb 10oz
  • Mcfly A/C weighed in 7 fish for 14lb 8oz
  • Barrys A/C weighed in 13 fish for 26lb
  • Paul Stafford (from Barrys A/C) reported 14 fish to his own rod, he was catching them on a Black Hopper.

Monday 13th June to Sunday 19th June

Hot Flies: Bloodworms, Orange Fritz, Small Lures, G.R.H.E., Green Blob

Diawl Bach, Ace of Spades, Daddies, Black Hopper, Yellow Owl

Lines: Intermediate, Floating

Hot Spots: Form the Pier and up

Notable Catches:

  • Keith Seath weighed in 2 fish for 4lb 4oz
  • Tam Duguid returned 4 Brown Trout to the water.
  • Mr Porteous, Mr Bercik and Mr Coyle returned 14 in total.
  • James Paterson weighed in a beautiful rainbow at 3lb
  • Leslie and Glenrothes A/C weighed in a fantastic bag of 26 fish for 55lb 11oz and returned further 31.
  • High Constables A/C weighed in 11 fish for 22lb.
  • Craig Gibson weighed in 2 for 4lb 8oz.
  • Michael Philp weighed in 4 fish at 7lb 8oz and returned a further 5

Monday 6th June to Sunday 12th June

Hot Flies: Sedge Hog, Red Diawl Bach, Kate McLaren

Black & Green Lures, Ace of Spades, Yellow Dancer

Klinkhammer, Blob, Black Buzzer/orange cheeks,

Green Diawl Bach, Pink Bunny Leech, Suspended Buzzer, Black Fritz 

Lines: Floating, Intermediate, Midge Tip, Sinking

Hot Spots: Anglers are tending to stick with the top end of the water

Extra Info for the week:

Congrats to Tam Duguid who managed to hook 2 fish with one cast and landed both of them with the help of his boat partner David Currie

  • Cameron Spears caught 2 fish for 4lb 12oz on a Silver Invicta
  • Jack Fraser landed a Rainbow for 2lb and returned a further 3 on catch and release,
  • David Currie & James Paton caught 2 fish for 4lb 4oz
  • Stewart Paton weighed in 1 at 2lb 4oz caught on an Ace of Spades
  • Jim Sneddon & Bill Coulter weighted in 4 fish for 8lb 8oz
  • Jim Crawford & Andy Nelson returned 10 fish on catch & release
  • Darren Coyle landed a beautiful rainbow weighing in at 3lb 8oz

 

 

Monday 30th May to Sunday 5th June

Hot Flies: Black & Green Buzzers, Orange Buzzers, Kate McLaren,

Hawthorne Fly, Dry Sedge Hog,

Green Diawl Bach, Yellow Dancer

Lines: Intermediate, Floating & Sinking Tip.

Hot Spots: the angles took the benefit of the whole lake.

Notable Catches:

  • Darren Taylor weighed in 3 for 7lb and returned a further 7 to the water, returning the next night with a partner and weighing in between them 4 fish for 8lb 4oz and returning another 5 back to the water.
  • Jim Orr weighed in 2 fish for 4lb 8oz
  • Noel weighed in 1 fish at 2lb 4oz which was caught on a Gold Diawl Bach
  • Tam Duguid weighed in 1 at 2lb returning a further 5 to the water.
  • The Veterans OAP A/C weighed in 13 Fish for 25lb 4oz, reporting a fine day of fishing.

 

 

 

Monday 23rd May to Sunday 29th May

Hot Flies: Yellow Dancer, Black Spider, Black/Silver/Gold Buzzer,

Olive Damsels, Viva, Hot Head Damsels, Diawl Bach,

Lines: Floating & Intermediate

Hot Spots: Anglers have been taking advantage of the full lake

although the pier and up have been working best

Notable Catches:

  • Tam Duguid & David Curry weighed in 5 fish for 11lb 8oz
  • Ian Fisher & Graeme Thompson weight in 5 fish for 10lb
  • Ian Orr & Ronnie Vaugh weighed in 5 fish for 11lb
  • Owen & John Fyfe weighed in 5 Fish for 10Lb 8oz returning a further 5 to the water.

all the above anglers taking advantage of our Midweek special. 1 Boat 2 Anglers 5 fish to the boat only £27.

 

 

Monday 16th May to Sunday 22nd May

Hot Flies: Black & Green Buzzers, Damsel, Orange Blob.

Lines: Midge Tip, Floating, Intermediate

Hot Spots: West End & just off the pier seem to be doing it for anglers this week.

Notable Catches:

  • Ian & Jim Orr weighed in 5 rainbows for 10lb 12oz and returned a further 8 to the water.
  • Bob Watson with gillie Sandy Wilkie retuned 8 on catch and release, the Green diawl bach seemed to be working for him.
  • McFly A/C fished their second outing at the lake and weighed in 11 fish for 22lb also returning a further 8 to the water. the black and green buzzers, Orange blobs and a green hopper seemed to work well for them.
  • Martyn Wilson is pictured below with a beautiful rainbow of 4lb 4oz he landed it on a Gold head olive fritz.
  • Malcolm Lindsay is also picture with his first ever rainbow which he caught on a Concrete Bowl it weighed in at 2lb 4oz.

Monday 9th May to Sunday 15th May

Hot Flies: Black & Orange Nymph, Green Diawl Bach,

Silver Humungous, Orange Blob,

       Hot Head damsel, Red Hol Diawl Bach.

Lines: Floating and Intermediate

Hot Spots: At moment the full lake is being fished with

              anglers being successful from top to bottom.

 

Notable Catches:

  • Les Cowan 1 fish for 2lb 4oz
  • David Meldrum & Alan Anderson weighed in 3 fish for 6lb 8oz
  • Ian Orr and Alan Procter weighed in 5 fish for 11lb as well as returning a further 7 fish to the water.
  • Chris Nicholson (fishing with Barry's A/C) landed a beautiful rainbow of just shy of 5lbs. Chris caught it on a Hot head damsel. (see the picture below).
  • Scott Patterson (also fishing with Barry's A/C) landed a beautiful rainbow of 4lb. Scot Landed the rainbow on a Red Hol. Diwal Bach. (see the picture below).
  • Barry's A/C total  18fish 40lb

 

 

 

 

Monday 2nd May to Sunday 8th May

Hot Flies: Yellow/Green Dancers, Snatchers,

                   Buzzers - Black/Green/Bloodworms,

                  Green Tadpole, Red Hol. Diawl Bach,

    Black and Green Damsels.

Lines: Floating, Midge Tip (just under the surface)

Hot Spots: Top left Side and just off the pier.

Notable Catches:

  • Mr. Summers and Mr. Summers weighed in a bag of beautiful rainbows 5 fish for 11lb 8oz.
  • Mr Kennedy and Partner also weighed in a bag of beautiful rainbows 5 fish for 11lb.
  • The McFly A/C finished of their evening session with 10 fish for 19lb 12oz

Masonic Pairs Competition saw a few great bags with:

  • Jim Smith weighing in 3 fish at 6lb 2oz
  • G. Ramsay weighing at 3 fish for 6lb 6oz
  • A. Campbell weighing 3 fish for 6lb 2oz
  • C. Nicolson weighing 3 fish for 3lb 4oz
  • Eck Burns Weighing 3 fish for 6lb 4oz
  • Eck also won the heaviest fish with 1 at 2lb 5oz.
  • 1st place went to Jim and Andrew Smith
  • also Jim Smith scooped the trophy for best individual angler on the day.

The total bag on the day for the Masonic Pairs was 36 fish for 71lb 6oz

and a further 31 fish returned on Catch and release

all guys reported a great days sport.

Hot Spots: the Middle of the Lake straight out from the jetty

(seems to be working well for anglers)

Notable Catches this week:

  • Ian Lesley (from the May Fly A/C) landed a 2lb 4oz Rainbow.
  • Bryan Britton (also from the May Fly A/C) also landed a 2lb 4oz Rainbow
  • Robert Purvis landed a 2lb 2oz Rainbow
  • Bob Wright landed a beautiful Rainbow of 3lb 10oz

 

 

Monday 4th April to Sunday 10th April

Hot Flies: Buzzers, Lime Green Blobs

Lines: Midge Tip

Hot Spots: Covering all areas of the lake

 

Monday 21st March to Sunday 27th March

Hot Flies: Buzzers, Olive Damsels, Black Nymph, Black and Green,

Lines: Floater, Intermediate, Midge Tip, Sinking Tip

Hot Spots: Top End (West End) and Far Side (across from the jetty)

Notable Catches

  • Les Cowan landed a beautiful Rainbow of 3lbs on a Black and Green Lure.
  •  Mr Dewar landed a beautiful Rainbow of 3lbs also on a Black and Green Lure.
  • Congratulations to Mark Dobson who won the winter league today with a cracking overall total of 28 fish for 56lb 10oz,
  • Also congratulations to the Stevie Bett who came 2nd, Graham Ramsay who came 3rd and Davy Vandieken who came 4th, Stevie Bett also netted the heaviest fish of the winter league a beautiful rainbow of 3lb 14oz.
  • Also like to thank all the guys who took part, remember its not the winning that counts its the taking part!!! (HAHA).

Winter League
  • Congrats to Bill Smart Bagging the 6 points this week but special mention to Roger Kershaw who scooped his first point on the board.

 

  • everyone reported a fantastic days fishing, with almost all of them bagged up before lunch time and returning to the water for catch and release.

On: Floating and Intermediate Lines

Hot Spots: East End of the Lake, West End (Burn Mouth) and the Bay at the old Boat house.

Notable Catches of the Week

  •  Eck Burns catch included a fine rainbow trout at 3 1/2 lbs which was hooked on a Raith Lake favorite the bloodworm.
  • Mr. Sturrock and friends bag of 6 fish included a fine rainbow weighing in at just under 5lb which was hooked on a Cruncher.
